We all know that each grade of laser diode is different. Today, Xiaobian will tell you what classification grades it has.
Class 1 (first-class laser)
This is the safest level, and normal use will not hurt the eyes at all.
Common places: optical fiber communication laser (sealed in equipment), laser mouse, and some closed structure laser ranging modules.
Class 1M (level 1 m)
It's similar to Class 1, except that if you add an optical amplifier (such as a telescope or a magnifying glass), it may be harmful.
Common in: multimode optical fiber system, some scanners.
Class 2 (secondary laser)
Mainly visible light (400~700 nm), power ≤ 1 mW.
Why is 1 mW still safe?
Because the human eye has a natural evasive reaction, you will subconsciously close your eyes or turn your head when you are photographed.
Class 2M (level 2 m)
It's the same as Class 2, except that it will be dangerous after being amplified with optical devices.
Common in: scanning equipment, some visible light sensors.
Class 3R (level 3 r)
Visible light or limited invisible light with power of 1~5 mW.
This grade of laser pointer has been restricted from selling in many countries because it may damage the retina.
Class 3B (level 3 b)
This level is a dangerous laser from the beginning.
Visible light: > 5 mW to 500 mW
Infrared/ultraviolet: anyone above 1 mW can enter this gear.
These are the classification standards of laser diode laser grades. I hope you will have a clear understanding after reading them.
