Laser marking, cutting, welding and drilling are almost inseparable from semiconductor laser equipment. The traditional laser processing equipment is often tens of kilowatts. Now many enterprises turn to semiconductor lasers for a simple reason: it is small in size, low in energy consumption, long in service life, and can accurately control energy output.
Semiconductor laser equipment will also be used in the field of optical communication and information transmission. Whether it is optical fiber transmission on the Internet, backhaul of 5G base stations, or high-speed interconnection between servers in data centers, laser diodes are indispensable.
Lasers such as DFB (Distributed Feedback) and VCSEL (Vertical Cavity Surface Emission) are the "hearts" in communication modules.
They convert electrical signals into optical signals and run thousands of kilometers through optical fibers without distortion.
In addition, semiconductor laser equipment is widely used in hospitals, such as laser surgery, pain physiotherapy, dental treatment, skin beauty and so on. Common bands are 808nm, 980nm, 1470nm, etc. Different bands have different effects on different tissues. For example, 980nm laser energy concentration is used for hemostasis and coagulation; 1470nm has a high absorption rate and is often used in the treatment of varicose veins.
With the rise of automatic driving and intelligent security, semiconductor laser equipment will also be used for optical ranging and identification. For devices such as lidar, laser rangefinder and infrared night vision system, the core light emitting devices are all laser diodes. VCSEL array, in particular, is almost standard in 3D face recognition, gesture capture and obstacle avoidance for unmanned aerial vehicles.
