We all know that laser diodes are widely used in daily life, so where are 905nm fiber lasers generally used?
The wavelength of 905nm is in the near infrared range, which is relatively safe for human eyes, and the transmission power can be relatively high, so it is very suitable for time-of-flight ranging (TOF). Like car lidar, drone ranging, intelligent access control, automatic driving sensing system, almost all of them can see the figure of 905nm. Many traffic speedometers and UAV terrain scanning equipment use 905nm lasers. This band has low transmission loss in the air and good penetration, and can work stably in a complicated outdoor environment. In profile scanning and thickness measurement, many high-precision displacement sensors use 905nm laser. This band is matched with a high-sensitivity detector, so it is easy to do signal processing, and the optical fiber is coupled out, which is convenient to be integrated into industrial modules.
Of course, not all scenes are suitable for 905nm. For example, in communication, it has no advantages, high loss and large signal attenuation, and is not suitable for long-distance transmission. Generally speaking, I personally think that the advantage of 905nm fiber laser lies in "balance", which can not only achieve sufficient power output, but also give consideration to safety, stability and cost. Nowadays, many intelligent devices are pursuing miniaturization and integration, and the 905nm fiber laser can be embedded in the module by optical fiber coupling, which is not only stable in performance, but also convenient to debug, which is especially critical in mass production applications.
